PROJECT VALUE
£250,000
BUILDING AREA
1,400 sq.ft
The client purchased an almost derelict listed thatched cottage in a delightful Oxfordshire village, with the purpose of totally renovating and extending the private residence. The cottage included within its grounds an original thatched forge building with ‘arrow slit’ window. We were able to secure a listed building consent to both refurbish and extend the original cottage, extend and refurbish the forge, and to secure a planning approval in the grounds, for a new bungalow.
The works involved structurally securing the roof construction, insulating ceilings, floors and walls, but maintaining original features and fabric to retain its original integrity. The cottage now benefits from 3 bedrooms, a delightful kitchen/diner, two reception rooms, main house bathroom and two en suite shower rooms. Undulating walls, distressed oak, large fire places and open ceilings retain much of the original character
