New Opportunity

Senior Project Architect / Project Lead.

A rare opportunity with Gould Singleton Architects as an experienced Senior Project Architect / Project Lead, as we look to expand our capability to align with our growth. This team member will be based at our Halesowen studio.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for projects, dealing directly with clients, consultants, contractors and statutory authorities, and seeing work through from concept to completion.

This is very much a hands-on role. The right person will be equally comfortable leading a meeting, developing a planning strategy, reviewing technical information, carrying out a site inspection or dealing with the day-to-day issues that come with running live projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will run a number of projects at different stages and across a range of scales, from smaller projects through to schemes exceeding £20m in construction value.

The role will include:

  • Leading projects across different RIBA stages
  • Acting as the main day-to-day contact for clients
  • Developing planning strategies and progressing applications through the planning process
  • Liaising with local authority planning officers and other statutory consultees
  • Coordinating consultant teams and contractor information
  • Producing, reviewing and managing technical design information
  • Attending client, consultant and site meetings
  • Carrying out site inspections and monitoring progress
  • Acting as Contract Administrator on traditionally procured projects
  • Working on Design & Build projects, including technical delivery for repeat developer clients
  • Managing project programmes, information requirements and key deadlines

We are frequently appointed as delivery architects on larger Design & Build projects across a range of sectors, reflecting our strength in technical design, coordination and construction-stage delivery.

What We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • ARB registration and typically 5+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Proven experience as a Project Architect, Project Runner or Project Lead
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Experience of planning strategy, planning submissions and dealing confidently with planning authorities
  • Experience of traditional procurement and contract administration
  • Experience of Design & Build procurement and contractor-led delivery
  • Strong technical knowledge and construction detailing skills
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience of preparing and coordinating NBS specifications
  • The confidence to run projects independently while remaining part of a close-knit team
  • A practical and commercially aware approach to project delivery

Experience of modern methods of construction, including Light Gauge Steel Framing (LGSF), would be an advantage, particularly on multi-storey residential, retirement living and student accommodation projects.
