Situated within the High Street, Belbroughton and within the Green Belt zone, the current property was unoccupied for approximately 12 months and in desperate need of full refurbishment, modernisation and elements of habitable space needing to be rebuilt.

The house was subject to previous planning consents, some of which were implemented, however the last approval in 1987 for a two storey, rear extension was not undertaken.

The works and application sought permission for a similar scheme to that previously approved with removal of previously approved extensions and the addition of single storey extensions.

Approach & Methodology


The existing dwelling sits located centrally within the site and takes the form of a double fronted cottage. From a central doorway reception rooms were on either side of the central staircase and further accommodation accessed through the reception rooms to the rear.

Pre-application consultation was completed in late July following agreement of the original footprint and it was established that the suggested extensions to the original dwelling were well within the acceptable parameters of Local Policy for extension to existing dwellings within the Green Belt
