Design concept for a proposed new Crematorium and Memorial Centre. The main crematorium building forms the central core of the facility supported by administrational areas, offices and vestry rooms. Additional accommodation is further provided for transfer chambers, storage and welfare facilities.

The design of the building and the layout of the site has been developed in an organic form to emphasise the serene and sedate nature of the facility. The design provides a strong sense of place and arrival with emphasis on the funeral procession through the site and the building. The design encapsulates the sense of memorial and remembrance with carefully planned views and landscaped features, separating the business, cars and visitors from the remembrance areas.

The orientation and layout makes use of the natural topography and the solar thermal characteristics of the site in developing a sustainable responsive building.
